Dear participants,
It is my distinct honour to welcome you to the 3rd edition of the International Forman Model United Nations (FORMUN ’15).
With this edition there starts a new cycle in the life of FORMUN. We strive to offer you an unforgettable experience, by relying on the experience of the past editions, further enhancing the features that made FORMUN such a special project and, at the same time, introducing new and unconventional approaches to MUN’s.
The story of FORMUN started in 2011 with a handful of people who wanted to establish the first international MUN in Forman Christian College and a landmark for MUNs in the region. Despite setbacks and unavoidable circumstances, they achieved their goal by organizing the first FORMUN in 2013 to the best of their abilities. It was built with hard work, driven by ambition and professionalism and supported with the help of friends and family. It achieved its purpose as a promoter of the core values of the UN, a forum for young professionals to exchange ideas, but it also became much more: it became a community, a family where bonds are created and shared for a lifetime. In spite of the passing of time and its continuous expansion, FORMUN remains faithful to its original values – professionalism, equality, integrity, commitment to excellence, high levels of academic achievement and social integration.
This year’s edition aims to create an unprecedented academic experience, by offering you a full account of the work of the UN with 2 of its major organs (the Security Council & the General Assembly), as well as its interaction with 2 other landmark organisations – The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and The International Cricket Council (ICC). Moreover, there will be simulations of UNHRC, UNDP, the Pakistan National Assembly (PNA) and a very special committee for all the potter-heads out there: Harry Potter Committee of Magical Crisis.

The theme proposed for this year’s conference challenges you to go an extra mile in the service of humanity. We live in an era of great uncertainty, but also one of profound opportunity for us to make a difference for the sake of others. The human family grows ever so steadily, with more than seven billion members, and this provides us with an opportunity to communicate, collaborate, and find a common ground in order to shape the future that we want and need.
Model UN conferences constitute such a unique experience because, while recreating the work and functioning of the UN and other organisations, as well as the fascinating universe of international relations, they also offer the opportunity for innovation. MUNs help create the premises where fresh ideas can be exchanged and out-of-the-box solutions can be tested for some of the most challenging international issues. On some occasions, they constitute examples of cooperation and creativity that should be taken into account by the “real diplomats”. On other occasions, they present the delegates with the bitter shortcomings of the current state of international affairs that they will have to address as future diplomats. Notwithstanding the outcome, the experience that the participants acquire is invaluable.
Distinguished participants, I strongly encourage you to take full advantage of the opportunity brought forward by FORMUN. I encourage you to be creative, test the limits of current international relations, while remaining realistic, learn as much as you can from this experience and bear these lessons in mind when entrusted with real decision-making power in your future careers.
To conclude, I sincerely hope that you will remain mindful of the fact that even if this conference is a simulation, the problems that you are invited to address are very real. They are not simply numbers in a chart, data in a report or an interesting doctrine; they are or will be part of the everyday reality of actual people. Therefore, they need to be addressed with wisdom, utmost care and perfect awareness of the impact that they will have on the lives and destinies of real people.

To many of the issues like Child labor, human right violations, gender equality and the eventual shift towards global zero, the UN is a body dedicated to the accomplishment of such asks and that is the aim of the MUN conferences. To give back to the world what it has lost, the ability to think.

I am Moazzam Ali Khan Manj the Executive Director for FORMUN’15. It is with immense pleasure that I welcome you all to FORMUN’15 one of the biggest MUN conference of Pakistan, hosted at FCC the best liberal arts university in Pakistan, situated at the Heart of the vibrant city of Lahore. Being part of the MUN circuit for the past few years has given me the privilege of attending various MUN conferences around Pakistan. Utilizing all my experience, I will ensure that this conference is bigger, better than all of them. As at FORMUN we believe in striving for excellence and serving the humanity. With the world on the brink of another nuclear war there is a dire need of addressing global issues via such forums. FORMUN is another stepping stone towards the long and tiring journey that humanity requires to achieve Global Harmony, and FORMUN prides itself on bringing the best and brightest of Pakistan together to Debate on such matters to create a more aware and conscious younger generation.

It must make one ponder every now and then, what kind of marvellous genius and fervent passion lurks behind the scenes of a nationally renowned, much awaited flagship conference of the year—FORMUN. I must disappoint you, because for me this event not an amalgamation of hard work and brilliance.
I’m not quite sure how to pen it down—but for me, this conference has always been a hallucinogen trip. From sleepless nights spent alternating between coffee and 90’s pop songs, mornings spent with my head immersed in deadlines and due dates, but my body suspended in a boring botany class—to the adrenaline rush that comes with every last-minute projection of talent, and ultimate bliss with the finesse of a jewel in the crown.
Perhaps my description says more about me than about the event itself, but only such an enigmatic and diversified conference could be home to an eccentric such as me.
Cutting to the chase: I’m Rabia Anjum, Assistant Director General welcoming you to (or possibly frightening you for) FORMUN’15. I have been associated with the Model UN Society of FCC for three years now, having worked in the capacity of Director Publications for the past two years, and now I form part of the suits. I’m majoring in Biotechnology and Psychology, working on two theses, and probably checking myself into an asylum once all of this is over.
But until them, you can have a taste of crazy and capable all in one place, with the hattrick which will delight the enlightened—have a blast, here at FORMUN’15! Just bring your own dynamites.

My name is Rabia Zafar and I am in my third year at Forman Christian College University where I am pursuing a degree in Biotechnology. While being a science student my personal interest towards current affairs and diplomacy led me to joining FORMUN. I like meeting new people and sharing knowledge and experiences. FORMUN has been a great experience and a great platform that has more or less helped me in evolving myself in the best way possible and to pursue my interests. This time I am pleasured to welcome you all to FORMUN’15 as an Assistant Director Public Relations. My way to communicate with this world and its inhabitants is through art. I have been working in this field past many years and my interest is continuously flourishing. That is the reason I am selected as the director creative of this prestigious event. As for as the decor of this event is concerned, I guarantee you the ideal adornment and decoration. The best I can do is make sure that I put all my inventiveness and imagination in this event, in order to make the event more exquisite and entertaining. I have put great effort on the ornamentation so that you all can have the best experience at FORMUN’15 with its outstanding presentation and embellishment. Welcome to Forman Model United Nations 2015 (FORMUN’15)! My name is Huma Khalid, a senior year student majoring in Economics and Psychology. Why did I opt for such boring, “dry” majors? Ummmm. Let me explain. The impact of economic and political decisions made by a certain group of people subjugating the entire nation proved to be far more radical for me than just being a common topic of discussion at various levels of social gatherings. The implications of these two disciplines are hard to be neglected in the current era of a disordered state marked by a persistent rise in price levels at daybreak and calculation of daily death tolls in suicide attacks by sunset. I am sure, you people would have dozed off (that is, IF you read this far). I will try not to be boring this point onwards.
Although my “MUNning experience” (I am not sure if that is really a word of English) is limited, I did acquire a taste for MUNning, last year, when I was a volunteer Logistics, as well as the Assistant Committee Director PNA. You don’t get to see this volunteer-ACD combination often. Hence, I AM super cool. And, my coolness tells me that FORMUN’15 will be a great success, because of the team we have. This time I am Director Human Resource (Frankly speaking, I am not sure what that is), and my job will be to help out almost everyone at the event, except for some obnoxious ones, maybe. Never mind. Me and team are working day and night to make this event a memorable one for you (that’s bound to happen). Hope you see you all, In sha Allah!

My Name is Ehtisham Akhtar and I warmly welcome you all to this biggest and historic (Inn sha Allah) MUN that will stay in your memories forever. I am currently doing my majors in Computer Science and it’s my second year here in FC. Besides studying, I do a lot of parliamentary debates, MUNs and hosting of public events. I recently also won a Best Delegate award at Evento 14. When I am not participating in anything such as debates, I love to play either Football (my ultimate love) or guitar. Hello! I am Farjad Sadiq and I’m a junior at Forman Christian College University (FCCU) doing my majors in Biotechnology.
