Forman Christian College is proud of the richness of its history which dates back to over 150 years. During these 150 years, many individuals, who showed remarkable talent, excellence and intellect later on in life, were students of Forman Christian College.

One of these many individuals is the renowned Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed. Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed was a born in Lahore on February 24, 1947. He was a student at FCC in 1968, when he received the Mehta Chunni Lal Gold Medal for securing the highest marks in History. He continued to receive  Honorable Mention from FC College during 1964-1968.

He went on to receive his doctorate from the University of Stockholm in 1986 in political theory and politics of South Asia.

Dr. Ishtiaq has made a name for himself as an internationally recognized Swedish Political Scientist. He is now a Visiting Professor at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). He is also Professor Emeritus of Political Science at Stockholm University. Moreover, he is the  Honorary Senior Fellow of the Institute of South Asian Studies at the National University of Singapore.

In addition to achieving this remarkable status, he is also a regular writer for the “Daily Times” and the author of various other famed publications. He was the winner of the Best Non-Fiction award at Karachi Literature Festival for the books: The Punjab Bloodied, Partitioned and Cleansed, Oxford, 2012; and  Pakistan: The Garrison State, Origins, Evolution, Consequences (1947-2011), Oxford, 2013.

Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed is a true inspiration as he has allowed his intellect and ideals to earn him notable praise around the globe.
